Rotal Jurisprudence

A study of binding legal decisions passed by Church Tribunals with special emphasis on Rotal Jurisprudence.

Practicum on Marriage Tribunals.

Theory and practice on how first instance matrimonial tribunals work. Hands-on experience on real cases by visiting selected matrimonial tribunals with the coordination of the Dean and the respective Judicial Vicars.

Legal Medicine

Medico-legal problems affecting the juridical capacity of persons under church law, especially those affecting the validity of marriage, criminal imputability in the breaking of the law and so forth.

Civil Marriage

A comparative study of Church and State Laws on Marriage. The Family Code of the Philippines and the Code of Canon Law.

Process of Beatification and Canonization

Special QQ on Religious Life

This course deals with the special issues and concerns relevant to religious institutes and their members such as: the juridical procedures in the establishment and suppression of religious institutes, provinces and houses; the governance of institutes; the admission of candidates and the formation of members; the competence of Bishops over religious institutes; the rights and obligations of the religious; the separation of members from the institute, and others. In the study of the different pertinent canons, which are in most part treated side by side with the provisions in the proper law of each congregation (i.e. Constitutions and Directory), the professor will highlight more the spirit of the law than its letter.

Thesis Writing

Methods of Scientific Investigation and Research. Preparation of a written dissertation by the student under the guidance of an adviser or moderator.
