The sessions for Official Examinations are classified as:
- Regular, which are given at the end of the school year for the subjects offered throughout the year or at the end of the semester for the semestral subjects.
- Special, which are given at the beginning of the school year.
Outside of the aforementioned time schedule, no official examinations shall be allowed unless permitted by the Dean. Examination for academic degrees must first be approved by the Dean.
Examinations for the school year may be oral or written according to the decision of the Faculty Council.
To be eligible for examination, the following are required:
- To have been enrolled in the subject or course concerned;
- To have regularly attended the required number of classes and seminars;
- In the case of a cleric or religious student, to have permission from his Superior if the examination is for a degree.
An ordinary student who fails in a main subject is disqualified to pursue a course for an academic degree. Furthermore, a student who incurs two failures shall be disqualified from further admission to the Faculty.
Ordinary students must successfully pass the final examinations in all subjects before being admitted to the examinations for academic degrees.
Any student who fails to take on the scheduled date the final examination for a particular course shall be marked as “Incomplete” (INC). The same course should be completed on the semester that immediately follows the term of enrollment. Otherwise, the “Incomplete” becomes a “Failure.”
The Faculty Council shall determine whether the examination for academic degrees shall be oral, written or both. It shall also determine the duration of the examination. In any case, they shall cover the subjects pertaining to the respective cycles.
Failure in an examination for a degree disqualifies the candidate from further admission to that degree. In individual meritorious cases, the Faculty Council, for good reasons, may readmit a candidate to another examination.
Residents of the UST Central Seminary who either voluntarily leave, or are advised to leave, the Central Seminary must drop from their program in the Faculty. Moreover, any student, the recommendation for whom has been revoked by the Ordinary or Superior, must also drop from their program in the Faculty.
